Affordable Housing Fully Framed at 823 Cleveland St. in Chinatown

After a year-and-a-half of construction, the wood framing for a new affordable housing development in Chinatown has been completed. The project, located at 823 Cleveland Street, is being developed by Little Tokyo Service Center and will provide 53 units of affordable housing.

The five-story building will have nine suites, each with private bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as shared common areas like kitchens and living rooms. The contemporary podium-type building was designed by Tighe Architecture and will also include an on-site manager's unit, office space for resident services, and a rooftop amenity deck.

Funding for the project was provided in 2023 by United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Genesis LA, California Community Foundation, and Apple, the non-profit developer announced last month.

LTSC is also currently in construction on another affordable housing development in Chinatown, at the former site of the Umeya Rice Cake Company and adjacent to the Japanese American National Museum.
