Affordable Housing Lottery Launches in Kew Gardens for Vleigh 77 Residences

Kew Gardens residents in the market for affordable housing can now enter the lottery for one of 24 units at Vleigh 77, a new mixed-use building developed by VP Capital Holdings LLC and designed by Jarmel Kizel Architects.

The affordable housing lottery for Vleigh 77, located at 77-63 Vleigh Place in Kew Gardens, Queens, has officially launched. The four-story mixed-use building, developed by VP Capital Holdings LLC and designed by Jarmel Kizel Architects, offers a total of 79 residences, 24 of which are available through the lottery.

These 24 units are reserved for residents with incomes between 80 and 130 percent of the area median income (AMI). Eligible incomes range from $69,155 to $189,540. The remaining units in the building are market-rate rentals.

According to the NYC Housing Connect website, amenities at Vleigh 77 include a fitness center, laundry room, and outdoor recreation space. The building also features ground-floor retail space.

In the past, Jarmel Kizel Architects has designed numerous residential and commercial buildings in New York City, while VP Capital Holdings LLC has developed several mixed-use and affordable housing projects in Queens.

The affordable housing lottery has faced criticism in recent years for its perceived favoritism towards developers and for its complicated application process. However, a spokesperson for VP Capital Holdings LLC insists that their company is committed to providing affordable housing options for local residents.
