A new affordable housing project is in the works for North Hollywood, with plans to replace two existing homes with a new six-story building featuring 51 apartments. The project has been proposed by developer Alan Turobiner and is currently under review by the Los Angeles Department of City Planning.

The proposed project, located at 5515 N. Cahuenga Boulevard, would consist of 51 studio and one-bedroom apartments without on-site parking. The project would also include city development incentives, allowing for a larger structure than typically allowed by zoning rules, in exchange for providing affordable housing.

The project will be fully restricted to moderate-, low-, and very low-income households, making it eligible for the development incentives as well as streamlining through the Mayor's Executive Directive 1. The project is being designed by GA Engineering and is depicted in a rendering as a contemporary podium-type building.

This is not the first affordable housing project for Turobiner and GA Engineering, with plans also underway for a similar project in nearby Toluca Lake.
