Charles Cohen's Bad Luck Continues as 750 Lex Heads to Foreclosure Party

Charles Cohen's tough year continues with 750 Lex headed for foreclosure.

It seems like Charles Cohen just can't catch a break. The real estate mogul's string of bad luck continues as his property, 750 Lexington Avenue, is headed for foreclosure after its special servicer won a summary judgment last week. This comes on the heels of Cohen's personal defeat in his battle with Fortress Credit over a $187 million loan connected to the 31-story office building.

It's no secret that Cohen has been struggling financially. In addition to the foreclosure on 750 Lex, he is also dealing with a $1.2 billion lawsuit from his former partner, Joseph Chetrit, over their failed partnership on the Sony Building. And let's not forget his failed attempt to sell a majority stake in the Chrysler Building and his loss of the Four Seasons Hotel.

But Cohen is not one to back down easily. He had personally guaranteed the $130 million loan for 750 Lex and vowed to fight the foreclosure. Unfortunately for him, the court ruled in favor of the special servicer and now the property is set to be auctioned off.

In true Cohen fashion, he remains optimistic, stating, "We will continue to pursue our legal remedies and seek to mitigate the damages caused by the servicer's actions." But it seems like his luck may have truly run out this time.
