Community Corp. Unveils Plans for Affordable Housing Complex at 1637 Stanford St. in Santa Monica

Project website reveals new plans for affordable housing complex from Community Corp. of Santa Monica.

A project website for the proposed apartment complex at 1637 Stanford Street, currently named "Stanford," has revealed new plans from Community Corp. of Santa Monica. The six-story building will include 71 units and parking for 54 vehicles, with a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom dwellings targeted towards families earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income level. Kevin Tsai Architecture is designing the complex, which will feature a courtyard, community room, laundry facilities, garden, rooftop deck, and on-site staff and service provider offices.

The project site sits near an existing mixed-use complex at 2929 Pennsylvania Avenue, where vacant retail space is being converted to housing. It is also located north of a property at 3030 Nebraska Avenue, where a four-building high-rise complex could create over 1,600 homes and become Santa Monica's tallest buildings. Community Corp., a nonprofit organization, has recently expanded its work into neighboring Los Angeles and Culver City.
