Work is almost finished on a new 88-unit apartment building in South LA's Chesterfield Square neighborhood, built by local developer Haroni Investments.
In South Los Angeles' Chesterfield Square neighborhood, work is nearly complete for a new multifamily residential development from Haroni Investments.
Built at 6901 S. Western Avenue, the new five-story building features 88 one-bedroom apartments above street-level parking for 43 vehicles.
Project approvals included Transit Oriented Communities incentives, permitting greater density, floor area, and height than allowed by zoning rules. In exchange, nine of the new apartments will be deed-restricted as affordable housing at the extremely low-income level.
The podium-type building was designed by John Kaliski Architects, and is shown in plans with amenities such as a recreation room and a central courtyard.
Other South Los Angeles projects from Haroni include a 93-unit apartment on Normandie Avenue and a 128-unit building on Florence Avenue, which the City of Los Angeles later moved to purchase through the Project Homekey program. The developer recently built a mixed-use project near the K Line in Hyde Park.
