Controversial Developer Robert Sonnenblick Proposes Margaritaville Hotel for Riviera Beach's Marina Village

Developer Robert Sonnenblick attempts to revive plans for a Margaritaville hotel in Riviera Beach's Marina Village, following previous fraud allegations.

Controversial developer Robert Sonnenblick, known for his failed attempt to build a Margaritaville hotel in Riviera Beach last year, is once again proposing to construct the resort in the city's Marina Village. Sonnenblick, who serves as the chairman of Pacific Palisades, California-based Sonnenblick Development, confirmed that he is one of four development teams vying for the opportunity to build on 12 acres of publicly owned land in the Marina Village.

Sonnenblick's previous attempt to build a Margaritaville hotel in Riviera Beach was met with allegations of fraud, causing the project to fall apart. However, Sonnenblick seems determined to make the project a reality this time around, despite the controversy surrounding his name.

According to Sonnenblick, the proposed Margaritaville hotel would include a 350-room hotel, multiple restaurants and bars, as well as retail and office space. The project would also feature a marina with 100 boat slips. Sonnenblick believes that the project would be a major economic boost for the city and bring in significant revenue.

"We've learned from our previous attempt and have made necessary changes to ensure the success of this project," Sonnenblick stated in an interview. "We are committed to working with the city and the community to make this a reality and bring in much-needed development to the area."

City officials have not yet made a decision on which developer will be awarded the opportunity to build in the Marina Village. However, Sonnenblick's past controversies may not bode well for his chances.
