CoStar Accuses Zillow of Ignoring Lawsuit and Continues to Use Copyrighted Images in New York City Neighborhoods
CoStar's ongoing lawsuit against Zillow for copyright infringement reveals that the listing giant has allegedly continued to use thousands of copyrighted photographs, despite previous claims that the images would be removed.
After filing a lawsuit against Zillow in July for widespread copyright infringement, CoStar has now accused the company of continuing to display thousands of copyrighted photographs, despite Zillow's previous assurances that they would be taken down. The lawsuit, filed on July 30, alleged that Zillow infringed on at least 47,000 images in multiple cities, including New York City. CoStar, a commercial real estate company, claimed that Zillow used their photographs without permission or compensation. According to CoStar's complaint, the company had contacted Zillow in June to inform them of the copyright infringement and requested that the images be removed. Zillow responded by stating that they had already taken down all the images in question. However, CoStar's latest findings suggest otherwise. In a recent court filing, CoStar presented evidence that Zillow has continued to display the copyrighted images in new listings in New York City. The filing also included screenshots of the images still being used on Zillow's website. "In the weeks since Zillow acknowledged that it had taken down the images, it has continued to use them in thousands of new listings," CoStar said in the filing. This latest development in the ongoing lawsuit highlights the ongoing battle between the two real estate giants. Zillow has yet to comment on the new allegations, but they have previously denied any wrongdoing in the case.
