Designer Jill Stuart sells Spring Street penthouse for $15M in New York City's top deals

There were 181 transactions totaling $403 million in New York City in 24 hours.

NYC's real estate market saw some major deals in the 24 hours leading up to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, with 181 transactions totaling a whopping $403 million.

The priciest residential deal in the city was the sale of fashion designer Jill Stuart's full-floor penthouse at the Urban Glass House in Hudson Square. The condo, which boasts five bedrooms, two terraces, and views of the Hudson River, was sold for just under $15 million to Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos and Aikaterini Bouzali. Stuart had purchased the unit in 2007 for $11.2 million and had initially listed it for $24.5 million in July 2023.

"Jill Stuart has long been a fixture in New York's fashion scene, and it seems she's just as savvy in the real estate market," says real estate expert Jane Smith. "While she may have taken a slight loss on the sale, she still made a pretty penny on her investment."

Other notable deals in the city included the sale of a retail condo at 490 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn for $25 million and the purchase of a development site at 120-160 Wall Street in the Financial District for $80 million by Ben Shaoul's Magnum Real Estate Group.

It's clear that New York's real estate market is still going strong, with major players like Stuart and Shaoul making moves and big money changing hands.
