Developer Plans to Replace Downtown Glendale Parking Lot with Mixed-Use Building
A surface parking lot in Glendale will be transformed into a mixed-use building with apartments and ground-floor retail.
A surface parking lot in Downtown Glendale is set to give way to a mixed-use apartment building, according to plans presented to the Glendale Design Review Board by developer Arutyun Saryan.
The proposed project, located at 340 N. Central Avenue, will feature a six-story building with 20 residential units, ground-level commercial space, and underground parking for 21 vehicles. The building will offer a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
Domus Design, the firm behind the project, has designed a contemporary building with two rooftop amenity decks. The ground-level façade will incorporate high-quality materials and differentiate itself from the upper floors, creating a visually appealing streetscape.
To enhance the pedestrian experience, the project will also include a commercial entry on Central Avenue. Plans for the building also include smaller retail units and canopies to visually separate the ground floor from the floors above.
The developer, 340 Central Properties LLC, is based in La Canada-Flintridge and managed by Saryan. The project is relatively small in comparison to other developments in Downtown Glendale, such as a 682-unit complex currently in the works at the former site of a Sears department store.
