"Developer Showdown: Culver City Affordable Housing Proposals Compete at 11029 Washington Blvd"
"Five affordable housing proposals for former gun shop property at 11029 Washington Blvd compete for Culver City's attention."
The City Council of Culver City has voted to issue a request for proposals seeking redevelopment options for the former Martin B. Retting gun shop property at 11029 Washington Boulevard. At the upcoming Planning Commission meeting, five submissions for the site will be reviewed, all of which feature affordable housing.
Washington Palms, a proposal submitted by West Hollywood Community Housing, calls for a seven-story structure with 67 units of affordable housing, artist lofts, and a community art center. EYRC Architects is designing the project, which has a wedge-shape and will use off-site modular construction. According to the proposal, the apartments will be reserved for households earning between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income level.
Culver Commons, submitted by Venice Community Housing Corp., will be a six-story structure with 42 units of senior affordable housing, a community gallery, and retail space on the ground floor. Practice is designing the project, which will feature a mix of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units for households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income level.
Culver City-based developer Decro Corporation has submitted plans for a five-story structure with 37 residential units, including 36 affordable units and one manager's apartment. LOHA is designing the building, which will feature 5,800 square feet of publicly-accessible landscape terrace decks. The apartments will be reserved for senior households earning between 30 and 50 percent of the area median income level.
