El Segundo scores a slam dunk with L.A. Sparks' $150M training facility
El Segundo lands largest investment for a women's pro sports team's training facility.
The Los Angeles Sparks, the WNBA's marquee franchise, announced plans to build a state-of-the-art training facility in El Segundo, in partnership with architecture firm Gensler and real estate services company Transwestern. The $150 million project is set to open in 2027 and will be the largest investment in a facility of its kind for a women's professional sports team.
Located within the Beach Cities Media Campus, the 55,000-square-foot facility will be developed in Continental Park, a collection of office and mixed-use properties along Rosecrans Avenue. The design, by Studio Blitz, will feature two regulation WNBA courts, a circular locker room, a weight room, and a spa pool with views of the surrounding mountains.
"El Segundo is well known for its dynamic and diverse economy, and we're thrilled that the Sparks are building their new headquarters and training facility here," said El Segundo Mayor Chris Pimentel in a news release. "This facility will set a new standard in the league and reinforce El Segundo as a premier destination for professional sports."
Adding to El Segundo's reputation as a hub for professional sports, the Sparks' new facility will join the training facilities for the NBA's Lakers and NHL's Kings, as well as the NFL's Chargers' purpose-built campus. With this move, El Segundo solidifies its status as a top destination for elite athletic training.
