Former FTC Commissioner Splurges $17.2 Million on West Village Maisonette at Former Superior Ink Factory Site
Mozelle Thompson, former FTC Commissioner, buys West Village townhouse at luxury condo development he once policed.
Former Federal Trade Commission Commissioner Mozelle Thompson, who oversaw the business practices of the country's wealthy elite, has now joined their ranks by purchasing a West Village maisonette for a whopping $17.2 million.
The townhouse, located at 400 West 12th Street, is one of seven exclusive residences that have access to the luxury condo building developed by Related Companies on the site of the former Superior Ink Factory. This property was previously sold for $11.5 million in 2010.
According to property records, Thompson's new home spans 6,000 square feet and boasts four bedrooms, a theater room, and a private elevator. It also features a private garden and rooftop terrace with stunning views of the Hudson River.
Thompson's purchase of this luxury townhouse has raised eyebrows, as he previously served as a regulator for the very types of elite developers and investors he is now living amongst. However, Thompson's attorney insists that there is no conflict of interest in his purchase.
"Mr. Thompson is a highly successful businessman and investor, and his purchase of this townhouse is a personal decision that has no bearing on his previous role at the FTC," said Thompson's attorney.
