Former NY Governor David Paterson Struts His Stuff in Style Across the Aisle Fashion Show in Upper East Side
Politicians strut their stuff in a fashion show at Surrogate's Court, showcasing looks by local designers.
Former New York governor David Paterson, along with other elected, appointed, and aspiring politicians, gathered at Surrogate's Court in the Upper East Side for the Style Across the Aisle fashion show, showcasing looks by local designers.
Paterson, who has also served as the state's Lieutenant Governor and State Senator, walked the runway in a sleek black suit and tie, proving that politicians can have style too.
The event was organized by Style Across the Aisle, a non-partisan organization that aims to bridge the gap between fashion and politics. Co-founder and Upper East Side resident, Gigi Grimstad, explained the inspiration behind the event, stating, "We wanted to show that politicians are not just suits and ties, they have personalities and can rock some fashionable looks."
While the fashion show was meant to be a fun and light-hearted event, it did not go without some controversy. Some critics questioned the ethics of politicians participating in a fashion show, with concerns of conflicts of interest and soft corruption.
However, Style Across the Aisle defended their event, stating that all participating politicians were required to disclose any relationships or financial ties with the designers featured in the show.
Despite the criticism, the event was a success, with attendees from both sides of the political spectrum coming together to enjoy the fashion and support local designers.
