Frank Gehry and Louis Vuitton Join Forces for New Flagship Store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills
LVMH has big plans for the site of the failed Cheval Blanc project, with a three-story, 100,000-square-foot complex designed by Frank Gehry and featuring a museum, restaurant, and rooftop terrace.
Architect Frank Gehry and luxury brand Louis Vuitton are teaming up for a new flagship store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, according to a report to the Beverly Hills Planning Commission.
The project, located at 468 N. Rodeo Drive, will span the south side of South Santa Monica Boulevard from Rodeo to the west and Beverly Drive to the east. The existing commercial buildings, including a former Brooks Brothers and the former Paley Center for Media, will be demolished to make way for the new complex.
The three-story structure will cover approximately 100,000 square feet of floor area, with a basement parking garage. The Rodeo Drive portion will include 45,433 square feet of space, including a rooftop terrace for retail purposes. The larger Beverly Drive wing will feature a museum, gift shop, cafe, 150-seat restaurant, and back-of-house and mechanical spaces, totaling approximately 54,000 square feet.
Gehry's design, clad in metal similar to the Walt Disney Concert Hall, will connect the two buildings through tunnels and pedestrian bridges. Gruen Associates is serving as the project's architect of record, and Peter Marino is reportedly designing the interior spaces.
If approved, construction is expected to take place over 44 months, beginning in 2026 and finishing by June 2029.
