Frank Gehry-Designed Louis Vuitton Flagship Approved for Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills
The Beverly Hills Planning Commission has unanimously approved a three-story Louis Vuitton flagship store, rooftop restaurant, and exhibition space on Rodeo Drive.
The Beverly Hills Planning Commission has given the green light to a new Louis Vuitton flagship store on Rodeo Drive, designed by renowned architect Frank Gehry. The 105,000-square-foot development, dubbed the Louis Vuitton Rodeo Drive Experiential Flagship, will span a block of South Santa Monica Boulevard between Rodeo and Beverly Drives.
The project, which includes a three-story store, rooftop restaurant, and exhibition space, will rise a maximum of 60 feet and feature subterranean parking, two pedestrian bridges, and a pedestrian tunnel. The approval comes after months of negotiations and discussions with the city, as well as the support of local residents and business owners.
"We are pleased with the Planning Commission's decision to approve our flagship project in Beverly Hills," said a spokesperson for LV Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, the parent company of Louis Vuitton. "We look forward to bringing this unique experiential retail concept to the iconic Rodeo Drive, and we are grateful for the support and collaboration of the city and community."
While some critics have raised concerns about the size and scale of the project, local officials and residents have largely welcomed the addition of a high-end luxury retailer to the city's world-famous shopping district. "This project will bring jobs, tax revenue, and economic growth to Beverly Hills," said Beverly Hills Mayor John Mirisch. "We are excited to see this iconic brand join our community and enhance the vibrancy of Rodeo Drive."
