Health Care Executive Snags Kendall Apartment Complex for $28M

A health care honcho, Rudy Rodriguez-Duret, purchased a 129-unit apartment complex in Kendall for $28.3 million.

A health care executive with a keen eye for real estate has made a sizable acquisition in South Florida. Rudy Rodriguez-Duret, CEO of a prominent health care company, recently closed on the Sunset Apartments complex in the Kendall neighborhood for a whopping $28.3 million.

The complex, located at 8951 Sunset Drive, is situated in an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County. The purchase breaks down to nearly $219,000 per apartment, making it one of the largest multifamily deals in the area in recent years.

The seller, Arpledge, is an entity led by Jonathan S. Jennings, according to records. The two three-story buildings that make up the complex were completed in 1970 and sit on a 3.6-acre site. The property consists of 62 one-bedroom units and 67 two-bedroom units, according to a news release from Rodriguez-Duret.

“This is the first time Sunset Apartments has been on the market in over 50 years, and we are excited to add it to our growing portfolio,” said Rodriguez-Duret in the release. “The location is unbeatable and the property has great potential for future development.”

The purchase of Sunset Apartments is just one of several recent real estate acquisitions made by Rodriguez-Duret, who has been steadily expanding his holdings in South Florida. With a strong background in both health care and real estate, he is well-positioned to capitalize on the current market.
