Lithia Motors Expands South Florida Dealership Empire with $51M Acquisition

Lithia Motors adds to its South Florida portfolio with two West Palm Beach dealerships, purchased for a combined $51.4 million.

Medford, Oregon-based Lithia Motors, led by Bryan Deboer, has expanded its South Florida dealership empire with the recent purchase of two West Palm Beach properties. According to records and real estate database Vizzda, Lithia paid $27.9 million for Acura of Palm Beach, a 10-acre car retail site located at 6870 Okeechobee Boulevard. In addition, another Lithia affiliate acquired West Palm Beach Hyundai, a 5.4-acre dealership at 2301 Okeechobee Boulevard, for $23.5 million.

The two properties were sold by Oak Terrace, Illinois-based Ed Napleton Automotive Group, which had purchased the Acura dealership for $7.5 million. Napleton's decision to sell comes after reports of financial struggles and legal troubles for the company.

While Lithia Motors continues to expand its presence in South Florida, the company's rapid growth has raised concerns among some industry experts. As one anonymous source notes, "Lithia Motors has a reputation for aggressive expansion and aggressive pricing. It's definitely something other dealerships need to keep an eye on."
