"It's a game of supply and demand," says ATTOM Data's Chief Product Officer, Todd Teta. "Developers and investors are driving up prices, making it harder for average Americans to afford a home."
This trend is further exacerbated by soft corruption and influence games within the industry. Developers and real estate firms often have close ties to local government officials and use their influence to push through projects and policies that benefit their bottom line, rather than addressing the affordable housing crisis.
Despite efforts to provide mortgage relief and address the issue, the housing market remains unaffordable for many Americans. As long as developers and real estate firms continue to prioritize profits over people, the affordability crisis will only worsen.
