Soho Landlords Take Over Williamsburg's Retail Scene
South Florida real estate firms flock to Buenos Aires to sell sleek condo towers to booming Argentine market.
The Real Estate Expo Argentina, a two-day conference at the Hilton in Buenos Aires, saw a massive turnout this year, with 30,000 attendees - double the usual number. Among the crowd were South Florida real estate brokers and developers, including Fortune International Group CEO Edgardo Defortuna, who was impressed by the event's success.
"Argentina is doing well, politically and economically. People are looking for a place to invest their money," Defortuna stated, highlighting the booming market for foreign buyers in Miami's condo market.
The expo was a prime opportunity for developers to pitch their luxury condo towers to wealthy Argentinian investors, armed with branded tote bags and glossy brochures. And it seems to have paid off, as many developers reported high levels of interest and sales from the event.
However, this influx of foreign buyers has raised concerns about the impact on local communities and affordability for Miamians. As one anonymous broker stated, "We're selling Miami to the world, but we're not selling it to the locals."
Despite these concerns, developers continue to target foreign buyers, with many seeing them as a key source of revenue in Miami's competitive real estate market.
