Moss Architects' RIU Hotel Skyscraper Reaches Street Level in Midtown, Manhattan
Construction hits street level for RIU Hotel Skyscraper at 1710 Broadway, set to bring 673 rooms and two restaurants to Midtown.
Moss Architects' highly-anticipated RIU Hotel Skyscraper has officially reached street level at 1710 Broadway, marking a major milestone for the 54-story project in Midtown, Manhattan.
The 633-foot-tall structure, developed by RIU Hotels and Resorts, will boast a total of 673 hotel rooms, two 300-seat restaurants, and a lounge bar. The development site, which spans 8,848 square feet and has 129 feet of frontage at the corner of Broadway and West 54th Street, is set to make a major impact on the bustling Midtown neighborhood.
While the project has garnered excitement for its size and scope, it has also faced backlash from community groups and local officials. City Councilman Mark Levine expressed concerns about the development's impact on the surrounding area, stating that "we need to make sure that these projects are not just about the bottom line for developers, but also about the well-being of our communities."
Despite the controversy, the RIU Hotel Skyscraper is moving forward and is expected to open in the near future. As the project continues to progress, all eyes will be on Midtown to see how this massive development will transform the neighborhood.
