NYC DOT Rehabilitates Ocean Avenue Pedestrian Bridge, Funded by Former State Assemblymember Steven Cymbrowitz

Brooklyn's historic Ocean Avenue Pedestrian Bridge gets a facelift with funding from a former State Assemblymember.

The New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) has completed rehabilitation work on the Ocean Avenue Pedestrian Bridge, connecting Sheepshead Bay and Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn.

The wooden span, originally constructed in 1880 and rebuilt in 1930, runs 400 feet across Sheepshead Bay from Emmons Avenue to Shore Boulevard. The project was carried out by the NYC DOT's in-house construction teams, with funding provided by the agency and former State Assemblymember Steven Cymbrowitz.

"The rehabilitation of the Ocean Avenue Pedestrian Bridge is a testament to our commitment to preserving and improving the city's infrastructure," said NYC DOT Commissioner Polly Trottenberg.
