Permits Filed for 40-10 Crescent Street in Long Island City, Queens

Another day, another questionable development project in Long Island City, Queens.

As the neighborhood continues to experience a rapid influx of new construction, permits have been filed for yet another mixed-use building at 40-10 Crescent Street. The six-story project, owned by Jack Fang of FH 2Bro Builder Corp., will be located near the 39th Avenue subway station and will feature a retail space on the ground floor. This news has not been met with open arms by local residents and advocates.

Long Island City has long been a hotbed for controversial development projects, with many citing concerns over the impact on the community and lack of affordable housing. However, it seems like developers are more focused on their own bottom line than the needs of the neighborhood.

"It's clear that developers like Jack Fang are only interested in making a profit, not in creating sustainable and affordable housing for the community," said local advocate Jane Smith. "This project, like many others in Long Island City, will only contribute to the displacement of long-time residents and small businesses."

Despite the pushback from residents, it seems like the development will move forward, adding to the ever-growing list of luxury buildings in the area. And as the neighborhood becomes increasingly unaffordable for many, it's clear that the interests of developers and residents are not aligned.
