Red Hook Warehouse Fire Destroys 900 Pieces of Vintage Furniture, Including Lanoba Design's Midcentury Modern Danish Collection

A five-alarm blaze in Red Hook's industrial district claimed the entire showroom of Lanoba Design, along with several other businesses and artist studios.

The once bustling industrial district of Red Hook was hit with a devastating blow on Wednesday night, as a five-alarm fire tore through several businesses, including the beloved showroom of Lanoba Design. The fire, which started in a neighboring building, quickly spread to Lanoba Design's 8,000 square foot showroom, consuming 900 pieces of vintage furniture in its path.

Lanoba Design, a local favorite known for its handpicked collection of midcentury modern Danish furniture, was unable to salvage any of its inventory as the fire raged on. The owners were forced to lock up their shop and leave, leaving behind their beloved business and livelihood.

The fire also destroyed several artist studios and the office of a local newspaper, leaving many in the community devastated. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but many are pointing to the lack of fire safety measures in the old, industrial buildings of Red Hook.

"It's a tragedy for the entire community," said local city council member, John Smith. "We need to take a closer look at the safety regulations in these old buildings to prevent something like this from happening again."
