"Rockrose Development Launches Affordable Housing Lottery for The Everly in Fort Greene, Brooklyn"

"The Everly, a 49-story mixed-use building, offers 171 affordable units for residents at 80-130% AMI."

The controversial affordable housing lottery has officially launched for The Everly, a highly anticipated 49-story mixed-use building in the vibrant neighborhood of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Designed by SLCE Architects and developed by Rockrose Development, the structure boasts 609 residences, with a whopping 171 units reserved for low- to middle-income residents.

According to NYC Housing Connect, the available units are designated for individuals with an annual income ranging from $64,766 to $227,500, which falls within the 80 to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI) bracket. This lottery has sparked both praise and criticism, with some applauding the effort to provide affordable housing while others question the true intentions of the developer.

Rockrose Development, known for its high-end luxury developments, has faced backlash in the past for its lack of affordable housing efforts. However, the developer insists that The Everly is a true reflection of their commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the community. In a statement, Rockrose Development president Justin Elghanayan stated, "We are proud to offer a range of affordable housing options in this vibrant neighborhood and look forward to welcoming a diverse group of residents to The Everly."

Despite the developer's claims, some critics have pointed out that the affordable units only make up a small fraction of the total number of residences in the building. In addition, the income bracket for eligibility still excludes many low-income individuals and families, raising questions about the true accessibility of these units.

However, with the high demand for affordable housing in New York City, these 171 units are sure to attract a large number of applicants.
