Stockbridge Scoops Up Uptown Boca Retail Center for $118M
Stockbridge Capital Group, led by Terry Fancher, adds to its South Florida retail portfolio with the $118.4 million acquisition of Uptown Boca's shopping center and parking garage.
San Francisco-based Stockbridge Capital Group, through an affiliate, has acquired the 150,591-square-foot Uptown Boca shopping center and adjacent 77,475-square-foot parking garage for a total of $118.4 million. The purchase, which includes a Whole Foods Market, REI, Bonefish Grill, Sephora, Chick-fil-A, and Homesense as tenants, breaks down to $519 per square foot. The retail building and parking garage, completed in 2020, are located at 20940 Uptown Avenue and 9536 Glades Road, respectively. This latest acquisition marks Stockbridge's re-entry into the South Florida retail market, following its previous sale of the CocoWalk shopping center in Coconut Grove. The firm, led by Terry Fancher, has also invested in several other high-profile projects in the area, including the $53 million purchase of the Boca Center office complex in 2015. Despite the retail sector facing challenges due to the pandemic, Stockbridge remains confident in the long-term viability of Uptown Boca. According to a spokesperson, "We believe in the strength of the Boca Raton market and are excited to add this high-quality asset to our portfolio."
