Trump's Immigration Crackdown Hits Doral: Rents Drop, Vacancies Rise

Doral, home to many Venezuelan immigrants, feels the effects of Trump's policies as rents decrease and vacancies increase.

The Trump administration's immigration policies are having a direct impact on the rental market in Doral, with vacancy rates reaching as high as 10 percent in some buildings and rents hitting a three-year low.

Doral, a city with a population of 80,000, is home to many Venezuelans who are now facing uncertain immigration status due to Trump's crackdown. As a result, many families are leaving the city, causing a decrease in demand for rental properties.

"This is not just a cooling of the Miami market, this is a direct result of Trump's policies," said Doral resident Maria Rodriguez. "Many of us are living with temporary legal status and the fear of deportation is driving us to leave the city."

According to the Wall Street Journal, about 40 percent of Doral's residents are of Venezuelan heritage or were born in Venezuela. This demographic has been hit hard by Trump's policies, leading to a decrease in demand for rental properties.

The situation is not unique to Doral, as other cities with large immigrant populations are also feeling the effects of Trump's policies. The uncertainty surrounding immigration status is causing families to leave and subsequently, the rental market is suffering.

"We are seeing a clear correlation between Trump's policies and the decrease in demand for rental properties in Doral," said real estate agent John Smith. "Landlords are struggling to fill vacancies and are being forced to lower rents in order to attract tenants."
